A study on Vascular Laser Treatment at #Vancoderm_Academy
Nd:YAG 1064 nm Laser [Quanta System, AYA Medical, Light EVO Machine, Canada)
Overview
Vascular laser treatment with the Long Pulse Nd: YAG 1064 nm, Alexandrite 755 nm, and KTP 532 nm laser is a non-invasive medical procedure designed to target and eliminate unwanted blood vessels on the face and body. The treatment uses focused laser energy to safely reduce visible veins, redness, and other vascular lesions with minimal discomfort and little to no downtime.
These lasers emit specific wavelengths of light that penetrate the skin at varying depths. The energy is absorbed by Oxyhemoglobin or Hemoglobin (chromophores) within the targeted blood vessels, generating controlled heat. This heat damages the vessel walls, causing them to collapse and be gradually reabsorbed by the body, while leaving the surrounding tissues unharmed.
Indications:
- Spider veins on the face and legs
- Cherry angiomas
- Facial redness associated with rosacea
- Venous lakes
- Port wine stains
- Hemangiomas
Treatment Benefits
- Non-invasive and precise
- Safe for most skin types, including darker skin tones
- Little to no downtime
- Minimal discomfort
- Long-lasting results with proper care
Treatment Details
Treatment Time: 15 to 45 minutes per session
Number of Sessions: Typically 1 to 3 sessions, spaced several weeks apart
Recovery: Mild redness or swelling may occur, usually resolving within 24 to 48 hours
Discomfort: Mild to moderate, often described as a brief snapping sensation
Results: Gradual improvement seen within 2 to 6 weeks
Who Is a Suitable Candidate
This treatment is appropriate for individuals with visible blood vessels or vascular lesions who are looking for a non-surgical solution. A clinical assessment is necessary to determine suitability based on medical history, skin type, and specific concerns.
Contraindications
- Recent sun exposure or tanned skin
- Use of medications that increase sensitivity to light
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area
What to Expect
After a consultation, the skin is cleansed and protective eyewear is applied. The laser is delivered to the target area using a handpiece, often with integrated cooling to protect the skin and improve comfort. Most patients resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Post-care includes avoiding sun exposure and following any specific instructions provided by the clinic.
Study:
We recently conducted a study using the Light EVO, Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser system (Quanta System, AYA Medical, Canada) for the treatment of leg telangiectasias with varying diameters. The initial results demonstrated successful outcomes, with visible improvement noted as early as 24 and 72 hours post-treatment. Follow-up is ongoing, and we continue to monitor patient outcomes to evaluate long-term efficacy and safety.
Vancoderm Academy plans to publish the study and its findings in the near future.
